ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

Opportunity:

Respected CPA & consulting firm in Midtown NYC specializing in the securities industry seeks an ACCOUNTING MANAGER with experience servicing financial services firms. Our client base includes US broker-dealers, investment advisers, commodity brokers, privately held funds, investment arms of foreign banks and startup firms with a focus on Fintech.

 

Role:

  • Oversee client accounts and supervise staff and senior staff
  • Oversee and prepare clients’ books and records
  • Oversee and prepare bank recs; payroll processing; calculate depreciation; prepare accrued & prepaid tax accruals
  • Oversee and prepare annual financial statements and footnotes
  • Assist clients with their annual certified audit and FINRA and SEC regulatory examinations
  • Expertise in B/D Accounting is sought with emphasis on:
  • Oversee and prepare FOCUS II, IIA & schedule I reports
  • Record fails, including fail to deliver and fail to receive
  • Record & calculate daily/monthly haircuts based on aged fails and proprietary accounts
  • Calculate monthly net capital, including calculation of non-allowable assets, haircut charges, aggregate indebtedness, minimum & excess net capital
  • Apply Revenue Recognition Standards

 

Qualifications:

  • CPA license is required
  • Active Series 27 FinOp license is preferred but not required at the time of hire.
  • Minimum of 10 years overall accounting experience
  • Minimum of 5 years servicing US broker-dealers/investment-advisers
  • Knowledge of the FinTech Industry
  • Ability to manage others, meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proactive approach and superb follow-through
